This introductory class is perfect for young musicians and writers who are curious about creating their own original music. Students will explore the basics of songwriting in a fun, supportive environment, learning how to craft lyrics, develop melodies, and structure a song from start to finish.
Through guided writing exercises, listening activities, and collaborative brainstorming, students will gain the tools and confidence to begin expressing themselves through song. Whether you're writing your first verse or discovering how music and words work together, this class is a great starting point for any aspiring songwriter.
No prior experience with instruments or music theory is required, just a love of music and a willingness to try something new! By the end of the session, students will have written an original piece, with the option to perform or record their work.
Songwriting: Next Level (Ages 11 - Up)
For Teen Songwriters Ready to Refine Their Craft
This class is designed for teen musicians and lyricists who have some songwriting experience and are ready to take their work to the next level. Students will dive deeper into the craft of songwriting, exploring advanced lyrical techniques, melodic development, song structure, and emotional storytelling.
Through guided exercises, peer collaboration, and individual feedback, students will strengthen their unique voice and begin developing a personal songwriting style. The class will also explore popular songwriting forms across genres, the basics of chord progressions, and how to use their instrument or voice as a writing tool.
By the end of the session, students will have written an original piece, with the option to perform or record their work. Recommended for students who have taken a beginner songwriting class or have prior experience writing songs.
